What happened. Bank Negara Malaysia kept the OPR at 2.75% at its last monetary policy meeting of the year on 5 Nov 2026. At the 6pm close the ringgit was stronger against the US dollar (4.0445, from 4.0610 the day before) and against the yen: RM2.5548 per ¥100, from RM2.5636 on Wednesday (Bernama via Malay Mail, 5 Nov 2026). An analyst quoted in the same report expects the US Federal Reserve to raise rates in December, which could cap the ringgit's gains.
