Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, 19 September–4 October: Nagoya hotels will be full

What happened. The 20th Asian Games take place in Aichi and Nagoya from 19 September to 4 October 2026. Malaysia sends a contingent, so many Malaysian supporters and officials will be there.

What it means for you.

• Hotels in Nagoya and around Aichi will be expensive and full in that window. If your route passes Nagoya (for example Tokyo → Kyoto with a stop), book now or sleep in Kyoto/Osaka and visit Nagoya for the day.
• The Tokyo–Nagoya–Kyoto shinkansen will be busier on event days; reserved seats are the safer choice.
• If you actually want to watch: tickets are sold on the official Asian Games site (English available).

After 4 October, Nagoya returns to normal — and that is the start of the most comfortable season (October–November).
