Update 21 Oct. ZIPAIR's first flight from Narita to KL left on 20 Oct (Sankei and AIRLINE web, 20 Oct). The other direction starts a day later: ZG62 leaves KL at 01:10 on 21 Oct and daily after that, landing at Narita at 09:00 (Travel Watch, 23 Jul 2026), at Narita Terminal 1 (Narita Airport). Fares announced in Japan: from ¥34,900 one way (Standard, 7 kg cabin bag included, airport taxes extra). On Trip.com for 5–12 Dec (first week of the school holidays), return per adult: ZIPAIR RM3,037 · AirAsia X RM2,665 (to Haneda, lands 22:40) · Batik Air RM2,685 · MH RM3,839 (checked bag included) — checked 21 Oct. What happened. ZIPAIR, the Japan Airlines group's long-haul low-cost carrier, opens its Kuala Lumpur–Tokyo Narita route on 20 October 2026, daily, with a Boeing 787-8. The schedule published by Aeroroutes (23 July 2026): ZG062 departs KL 01:10, arrives Narita 09:00; ZG061 departs Narita 16:50, arrives KL 23:40. Aviation Wire (23 July 2026) reports the same date and seven round trips a week. We could not confirm fares on ZIPAIR's site (it would not open from here) — check directly before booking.
What it means for you. One more non-stop option to Tokyo alongside MH, JAL, ANA, Batik Air and AirAsia X — and the timing suits families: leave KL after midnight, land at Narita at 9 am (a full first day), leave Narita late afternoon, home before midnight. ZIPAIR sells the seat only; bags, meals and seat selection are paid extras — compare the final total, not the headline fare. For in-flight meals, ask about no-pork options or bring your own; we did not verify a halal menu on ZIPAIR.
What to do now. If you are planning the December school holidays, compare your dates in one search: KL → Tokyo flights on Trip.com (prices depend on the date). Landing at Narita at 9 am?
