Prayer Rooms at Japan's Airports: Narita, Haneda, KIX and 10 More — Before or After Security
Checked 2026-10-03
Every room below is from the airport's own page (checked 28 Sept – 2 Oct 2026), and each one links to its source. If an airport does not say whether a room is before or after security, I say so instead of guessing.
Short answer. Narita has a prayer room before and after security in all three terminals (T1, T2, T3). Haneda T3 has two rooms before security only; Haneda T2 International has rooms on both sides; Haneda T1 has no prayer room (official page). KIX T1 has separate rooms for men and women with ablution space, open 24 hours, on 3F and after security in the international gate area. In the city, Tokyo Station's prayer room could not be confirmed (see section 3).

1. The three airports most Malaysian families use
| Airport | Before security | After security | What the airport says | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Narita T1 | 3F, Central Building | 2F (international departures) | Multi-faith rooms; wudu and hours not stated | Narita |
| Narita T2 | 1F, Main Building | 1F (international departures) | Wudu and hours not stated | Narita |
| Narita T3 | 2F, Main Building | 3F (international departures) | Wudu and hours not stated | Narita |
| Haneda T3 (international) | 3F, 2 rooms | Not listed | Purification (wudu) facilities | Haneda |
| Haneda T2 International | 3F, 2 rooms | 2F airside, 2 rooms (after passport control) | Purification facilities | Haneda |
| Haneda T1 | — | — | No prayer room (official page) | Haneda |
| KIX T1 | 3F (the page doesn't say which side of security) | International gate area: Main Building and North Wing | Separate rooms for men and women, ablution space, 24 hours | KIX |
- If prayer time falls between check-in and boarding, use the after-security rooms: all three Narita terminals, Haneda T2 International and KIX T1 have them.
- Flying domestic from Haneda T1 (for example to Sapporo or Fukuoka): there is no room in T1. Pray before you go to the airport, or at T2/T3 if you have time.
- At Narita and Haneda the official pages don't say whether men and women have separate areas. At KIX they do.

3. After you land: Tokyo and Osaka
- Tokyo Station: not confirmed. A prayer room at the JR EAST Travel Service Center is often mentioned, but JR East's page could not be opened when I checked, and other sources give different hours (10:00–17:00 vs 8:30–19:00). Ask at the service centre before you rely on it.
- Tokyo Skytree / Solamachi, Shibuya Scramble Square, Hikarie: no prayer room on their official pages. Tokyo Disney Resort's official site lists none either.
- In Tokyo, rooms you can rely on: Masjid As-Salaam (Okachimachi, between Ueno and Akihabara; five daily prayers and Friday sessions, official page); Tokyo Camii (Yoyogi-Uehara, open daily 10:00–18:00, headscarves to borrow, official page); DECKS Tokyo Beach in Odaiba (prayer room on Seaside Mall 5F, official page).
- In Osaka: JR Osaka Station has a free prayer room at the 1F South Gate Plaza, 11:00–18:00 (last reception 17:30); register first at Osaka Station City Information (North Gate Building 3F), up to 20 minutes per use (official FAQ). Namba CITY has one on Main Building B1F; apply at Namba CITY Information (B2F), 11:30–20:00 (official page).
The full map (paid): 78 prayer rooms and mosques and 150 places to eat in 19 prefectures, each with its official source and the date checked — see it here.
